| The Uptown is one of the last great movie
houses left. It's a monstrous building that holds only one theater, complete with a balcony, a huge
pink neon sign outside, 300 seats, and a curved screen that stands about 50 feet tall. This is the
place to see a movie in D.C. I saw Twister, Independence Day, The World Is Not Enough, the special
edition of Return of the Jedi, The Green Mile, and The Perfect Storm there. Recently I saw a rerun
of Casablanca there too. The snack bar is fully stocked and the Men's and Women's Lounges are a nice
touch. The Uptown was remodeled a few years ago to give it better seats and digital sound. The seats are
still a little crowded, but the view more than makes up for that. I absolutely love seeing movies
at this theater.
